The DCI has come under fire after they published photos of people believed to have been ganged down by the sleuths during their rounds to secure the country.

The DCI had earlier on reported that the two men were part of a gang that was involved in a shootout with the officers.

A photo of the two however surfaced online showing that they had been caught alive and they were in handcuffs forcing the public to question under which circumstances did the two die.

Taking to their twitter the investigative unit reported

“Two armed robbers have been shot dead and two assault rifles recovered following a fierce shootout this morning in Kigumo, Murang’a county. Sounds of fierce gunfire rat-a-tat-tat-tat! Punctuated by screams from hyenas” read the tweet.

However, Kenyans were quick to accuse them of having allegedly killed the two after arresting them and not in a shootout as earlier reported.

Law Society of Kenya president Eric Theuri accused the investigative unit of having gone back to extra judicial killings.

The incident comes after president William Ruto categorically stated that no one will be a victim of extrajudicial killings in the country.

The DCI has been accused of being worse that I was before when handling perceived criminal cases.
