Details Of Raila Odinga’s Trip to Poland Ahead of the Kamukunji Declaration

Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga was a notable face in the meeting organised by Opposition leaders all over the world in Poland.

On Friday, June 23, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, a musician and opposition figure from Uganda, posted a picture of the former Prime minister and the veteran opposition leader with his daughter Winnie Odinga. 

The meeting’s theme was ‘Rolling Back Authoritarianism'; the Leader of Azimio la Umoja and the daughter Winnie Odinga were the keynote speakers.

EALA MP Winnie Odinga stated that the main topics of discussion were the opposition's function in defending democracy and citizens' rights in their individual governments.

"Today, we gathered in Gdansk, Poland, with opposition leaders and freedom fighters from around the world for a round table discussion on the theme 'Rolling Back Authoritarianism. It's always great to reconnect and assess the international progress of the fight for freedom and democracy. This is a fight we must win," stated part of the message.

The meeting comes just before the Mega Kamukunji declaration on Tuesday 27 June 2023.

On Thursday, June 22, the Azimio One Kenya Coalition through its co-principals stated that, following the passage of the contentious Finance Bill 2023, they will attend a consultation gathering at the Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi on Tuesday.

According to the Azimio Coalition, the Kenya Kwanza administration ignored the people, their feelings, anxieties, and hopes by imposing their agenda through the passing of the Finance Bill.
