The Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Aden Duale has said the International Criminal Court also referred to as ‘the Hague’ case involving President William Ruto and Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was an international plot to eliminate possible threats to Raila Odinga presidential campaign.

The CS revealed bits about the plot in his autobiography ‘For The Record’ which was released on 11th May 2023.

In an interview with one media station, Duale added that the West assured Raila Odinga that he will be the President Candidate and that is why Ruto and Uhuru’s cases were raised in the Hague.

According to Aden Duale, the plot was between Kenya’s international Allies, Countries in the West and Raila Odinga.

Aden Duale revealed that Raila Odinga was assured by the West that he was going to be their Presidential candidate therefore they had to eliminate Ruto and Uhuru since they were a threat to him.

President William Ruto was accused of murder, deportation of people from their hoods and persecution during the 2007-2008 post-election violence in Kenya and his case was opened on 10th September 2013.

Uhuru Kenyatta was also accused of crimes against humanity that took place during the 2007-2008 post-election. The hearing of Kenyatta’s case took place from 21st September to 5th October 2011.

Charges in Uhuru Kenyatta’s case were withdrawn by the International Criminal Court due to insufficient evidence on 13th March 2015.

On the other hand, Charges against President William Ruto were dropped by the International Criminal Court on 5th April 2016 due to inadequate evidence.

Duale also said that Uhuru Kenyatta received threats that the Western government would block all imports from Central Kenya if he ran for Presidency.
