Azimio Legislator David Pkosing has been released by the DCI hours after being taken in for questioning.

Pkosing who is the Member of Parliament for Pokot South was arrested on Thursday at KICC in Nairobi and taken in for questioning at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road for allegedly funding the banditry in the northern parts of the country.

The move to arrest Pkosing comes after the government vowed to ensure that they deal with banditry in the North.

Speaking after being released the legislator said his tribulations started when he assisted in paying the bond of suspects who had been arrested for allegedly carrying out bandit attacks in the North.

The emotional Pkosing said the Pokot community is being targeted and being painted as the villains Pkosing said, the Pokot people are not criminals and he will do what he can to defend his people.

The legislator also said he had received a call the previous day from a senior government official threatening him for what he termed as being outspoken and defending the people of Pokot.

Psoking’s lawyer Danstan Omari defended his client denying owning the famous white chopper that is associated with bandit attacks.

Omari further said the legislator was being targeted because he was affiliated to the Azimio coalition.

Bandits have continued to cause havoc in the Kerio Valley belt of West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo and Turkana counties
