False and misleading, Canada immigration department warns Kenyans over fake job opportunities offered to them.

Through its social media accounts, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada termed the information as false in what looked like a response to a statement by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua.

“Disinformation is circulating which suggests that special programs are welcoming Kenyan immigrants. This is false, and the immigration programs referenced do not exist.” Said the statement.

The department has urged all Kenyans interested in jobs in Canada to get accurate information on how to immigrate on their website, Canada.ca/immigration.

The response from the immigration department came barely hours after the CS through his Twitter handle urged Kenyans to apply for job opportunities in Canada.

“Currently, Canada has more employment opportunities than available people to work and we agreed that Kenya can help fill that gap. The process for those who wish to go to Canada is simple but requires one to be diligent,” Read the tweet in part.

Mutua further indicated that his ministry was in talks with the Canadian government over job opportunities.

“We are in deep negotiations and we will be providing a comprehensive statement within the next few days with guidance and links agreed upon between the Kenyan and the Canadian Government so that Kenyans can apply for migration or job visas,” said Mutua.

Mutua, however, warned Kenyans over fake agencies pretending to be recruiting employees for Canadian firms.
