Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has released the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam results. The event which was held at the Kenya National Examinations Council headquarters at Mitihani House, in Nairobi saw some 1,244,188 candidates advance to another level of their education. After presenting the results first to the President of the Republic of Kenya, William Ruto at the statehouse, CS Machogu released the anticipated results at Mitihani House.
The KCPE exam was undertaken alongside the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for candidates in Grade Six. KCPE exam which was done between November 28 to 30, was the second -last edition of the KCPE examinations before the 8-4-4 system of education is completely phased out of the primary school curriculum next year.
Best candidates were Otieno Lewis Omondi from St Peters Mumia and Fwaro Makokha Robinson from Christ the King Primary School in Bungoma who scored 431 marks. 39 candidates with special needs scored 400 marks and above, compared with only two in 2021. Only 724 students scored below 100 marks in the 2022 KCPE exams, 9,443 candidates scored between 400 and 500 marks, 300,756 candidates scored between 300 and 399 marks, 616,593 candidates scored between 200 and 299 marks, and 296,236 candidates scored between 100 and 99 marks.
However, Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu said some 252 candidates cheated in the 2022 KCPE exam. These candidates however, receive their results with a score of zero in the subjects they cheated in. These students will also transition to High School.
“All candidates to transition to form 1 under the transition policy.” Said Machogu
