Muthaiga Golf Club will host the 54th Magical Kenya Open which is scheduled to commence on 9th to 12th March 2023.
Sports, Arts and Culture Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba unveiled the competition stating that it is a sign of confidence by the Magical Open organizers to give an opportunity for Kenya to host the event.
“The event is programmed just a few days when Kenya hosted the Ladies Kenya Magical at Vipingo. This is a sign of confidence for Kenya to host the event that will attract more opportunities not only in sports but also in the tourism sector.”
The cabinet secretary also added that the Kenya Open Golf Limited(KOGL) has given a chance for the experienced golf players as well as the amateurs by participating in Safari Tours giving them a room for the Magical Kenya tournament.
“It is also crucial that the Safari Tour is being boosted to be a continental event, and as the Ministry of Sports, we will continue to give our support to events like this.” Says Cs Ababu.
ABSA bank, who are the main sponsors of the Magical Kenya Open gave out 70 million shilling to support the event.
The bank has been sponsoring the event for the last 12 years. The interim managing director, Yusuf Omari has assured the continuous support of ABSA for the Magical Kenya Open tournament.
This years’ edition will host approximately 156 participants from across the world, with eight professionals from Kenya and six amateurs, who will compete for ksh249 million’ price tag.
