Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday, May 21, while attending an interdenominational prayer alongside President William Ruto at Isiolo Boys High School, called out chiefs on laxity when it comes to the fight against drugs in the country.
Gachagua said the if the chiefs would not up their game in the fight against drugs in the country then they risk losing their jobs threatening them to choose between allowing the use of drugs and go home or take part in the fight against drug abuse and keep their jobs
Basing his argument in Isiolo, Gachagua said that Chiefs have failed to curb drug abuse in Isiolo County, and the situation had grown worrisome.
In addition, he said there would be no transfer for Station Commanders who failed to fight against drugs in their areas.
"Transferring the Station Commander is moving an issue to a different region of Kenya. Furthermore, because this is our nation, we cannot move an issue from one region to another," added Gachagua.
In order to discuss ways to combat drug usage in the region, the Deputy President aims to call a meeting with the Eastern Regional Commissioner, leaders, and security personnel in the coming weeks.
