On Monday afternoon, a building reported to be in the process of demolition collapsed in Sagana, Kirinyaga County.
There were two reported casualties, both of whom sustained serious injuries. The two men are said to be laborers who were assigned to demolish the structure.
Confirming the incident, local residents stated that a portion of the building wall abruptly collapsed without warning, injuring the two workers.
Several buildings in the area are said to have been demolished in order to make way for the Kenol-Marwa highway.
“A number of demolitions are taking place in the area to pave way for the construction of the Kenol-Marwa highway which is currently ongoing,” said a local resident.
The two men were taken to the Sagana sub-county hospital before being transferred to the Murang'a hospital.
