Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro doubling up as the National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee chairman has confirmed that the government has committed the highest-ever capitation of the National Budget into the education sector in the next Financial Year budgetary allocations.
Ndindi says a total of 27 per cent of the Allocation has been channelled into the learning sector arguing that the move is Justifiable and is poised to play a vital role in ensuring the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) hires l all the 46,000 Junior secondary interns into Permanent and pensionable contracts.
"The government is Committed to Honoring employment opportunities for all Interns in different Sectors including medical interns," said Ndindi during an exclusive interview.
Ndindi's budget committee has allocated a whooping 14.5B in the 2024/25 Budget meant for the national government plan to enhance rural electrification.
"Members of the parliament in all 290 constituencies will receive 50M of the share to enhance electricity connections and street lighting programs in the constituencies," confirmed Ndindi.
On Thursday, Parliament approved a Ksh.4.006 trillion budget, the highest ever in Kenya's history with BAC Chairperson Ndindi Nyoro arguing the figure was a climb down from the initial budget policy statement (BPS).
In the 2024-2025 approved budget, the lawmakers agreed to allocate Ksh.142 billion for Basic Education that will include primary and secondary education, Ksh.127 billion for university education, and Ksh.30 billion for technical and vocational training colleges following lengthy back and forth discussions submissions with the Ministry of Education.
Medical services have been capitated Ksh.102 billion to cater for curative and preventive programmes while Public health has been issued Ksh.28 billion.
The Office of the President has been allocated Ksh.5.1 billion with that of his deputy allocated Ksh.4.8 billion.
Among other big beneficiaries of the ballooned budget include State House which will receive Ksh.9.5 billion, the Cabinet Affairs Office has been assigned Ksh.275 million as Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi's office given an additional Ksh.1.1 billion with the Foreign Affairs docket aside.
The Senate has been allocated Ksh.8 billion, while Parliament's Support Services, Parliamentary Liaison, and Legislation have also been factored into the budget.
