A river in western Kenya and a tributary of Lake Victoria is the Yala River. Since then, there have been examples of unsolved body discoveries. Take this current story as an illustration:
In Bondo, Siaya County, a man's body was pulled from the River Yala's waters. The body was found by a family that was searching for their missing kin who reportedly drowned in the river a few weeks ago.
The victim, which appeared to be strongly built and of medium height, had significant incisions on the shoulder and a limb that was nearly severed, according to Got Agulu sub-location chief Joseph Owigo.
As local police launch their inquiries into the event, the man's body has subsequently been transferred to Got Afulu Sub-County Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem and identification.
The incident occurred seven months after over 30 remains that were thought to be extrajudicial killing victims were found in the river. Police say a sizable portion of them had not yet been identified.
The public has been invited to visit the mortuary in order to confirm whether the deceased may be one of their relatives, as they may have also lost family members under mysterious circumstances.
