The big secret behind why photos clicked with iPhone cameras look stunning and are the best you will find on any smartphone has finally been revealed. Apple doesn’t make iPhone cameras. Apple gets its sensors from Sony. Apple CEO Tim Cook visited tech giant Sony’s cutting-edge facility which also provides sensors to Android phones. Tim Cook took it to Twitter and revealed that Sony has been making sensors for Apple for more than a decade.

“We’ve been partnering with Sony for over a decade to create the world’s leading camera sensors for iPhone,” Tim Cook tweeted.

The Apple CEO is currently on a supplier tour in Japan. He revealed this after visiting the company’s Kumamoto offices in southwestern Japan. Apple had been completely mum about the different hardware elements used in its iPhones.

In a statement, Apple said it invested more than $100 billion in its Japanese supply network over the last five years. Furthermore, in a statement released by Apple, it revealed that it has boosted its spending on suppliers in Japan by more than 30% since 2019, with a network spanning nearly 1,000 companies, from multinationals to family-run businesses.

As per reports published last month, Sony had supplied its highly advanced image sensor and other components to Apple in its latest iPhone version that will be up for sale next year.
