Azimio La Umoja One Kenya leaders have once again opposed the controversial Finance Bill 2023 proposed by President William Ruto. The leaders say they plan to make a comprehensive statement explaining why they arrived at that decision on Thursday, June 8th.
Raila Odinga remarked at a press conference held in Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation that the coalition fully opposes the Bill and that any MP who is in support of it should know that they have forsaken Kenyans.
“We have told all our MPs in Azimio to oppose the finance bill. Any MP who supports the bill should know that they have betrayed Kenyans,” he stated.
In addition, the Former Prime Minister claimed that many Kenyans have approached him to establish another maandamano in order to voice their problems to the ruling government, which he believes is incapable of leading the people of Kenya.
“This regime is not up to what Kenyans expect. We are going to tell Kenyans what to do. I have been asked wherever I go, tangaza maandamano. We are putting them on notice, tutatangaza,” he added.
Other Azimio La Umoja allies have also come on board to term the Finance Bill as unreasonable and unnecessary for Kenyans.
“Tax measures contained in the Finance Bill are unreasonable and directed particularly at Mt Kenya businesses,” Martha Karua.
