Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition's leadership has yet again heightened its condemnation of the Government’s recent attack on the Judiciary.

Led by Azimio La Umoja Leader Raila Odinga, the coalition has stated that they will not show respect to President William Ruto unless he demonstrates respect for the Judiciary.

According to Odinga, it would appear unwise for the Judiciary led by Chief Justice Martha Koome to engage in talks with the executive as it is an independent arm of Government.

“There is no need for the Chief Justice to talk with the executive. Let the judges do their work independently,” Odinga stated.

Addressing a gathering in Vihiga, the ex-Prime Minister stated that Chief Justice Martha Koome engaging in discussions with President William Ruto could potentially compromise ongoing active cases scheduled for ruling.

Odinga further emphasized that anyone dissatisfied with the court's verdict should pursue the appropriate legal channels and file an appeal, rather than engaging in sideline discussions to criticize the Judiciary.

During a press briefing, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka emphasized that the Government should refrain from interference and allow the Judiciary to fulfill its mandate.

Kalonzo Musyoka says he is looking forward to seeing if CJ Martha Koome would receive Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's petition which he said he will submit to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) seeking the removal of Justice Esther Maina from the bench due to allegations of corruption and misconduct.

“I am waiting to see whether the Chief Justice will receive Gachagua, he said he is going to lead a protest. I want to see that because that will be the culmination of absurdity with regard to the relationship between the Executive and the Judiciary.” Kalonzo Musyoka stated.
