On Tuesday morning, tragedy struck as a van rammed into a stationary truck near the Ngata area along the bustling Nakuru-Nairobi Highway, claiming the lives of eight individuals.
According to eyewitnesses, the van, en route from Nairobi to Kisii, crashed into a stationary lorry on the roadside.
Photos seen by Look Up Digital depicted the grim aftermath, with the van, carrying 15 passengers, severely damaged. Police confirmed that one individual survived and was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.
A witness recounted that the van was traveling at excessive speed when it collided with the stationary lorry.
"We assisted the police in recovering the bodies, which have been transferred to the mortuary, while the injured were promptly taken to the hospital," the witness informed the press.
A cautionary message was issued to all drivers traversing the route, emphasizing vigilance on the steep slope and ensuring proper braking.
This incident followed another tragic accident involving a Probox and a lorry, claiming six lives. The earlier accident occurred along the Kericho-Nakuru Highway, as the driver attempted to overtake a convoy of vehicles.
