Uganda police arrested eight Arsenal fans for holding a trophy parade following the club`s 3-2 win over long term rivals, Manchester united on Sunday. According to the Uganda authority, the fans who were wearing the club`s red jersey and carrying the symbolic trophy did not not have a permit to hold the procession which is a public order offense.

The fans were celebrating the victory after thrashing red devils at emirates stadium in a last minute goal courtesy of Edward Keddar Nketiah in the ninetieth minute of extra time.

The results gave Gunners five point cushion at top of the table, giving hopes to fans around the globe of clinching the trophy   after 19- years of waiting.

Uganda's capital Kampala saw Arsenal fans  traveling in a convoy of five vehicles on Monday morning upon which they were intercepted by Uganda`s authorities. One of them was seen carrying a trophy which they had bought at a local store.

According to the regional police boss who is also a self –declared Arsenal fan, told the media that he had not reviewed the fans' charges but wondered why they were celebrating when only half of the matches in the season had been played.

The two teams, Arsenal and Manchester united enjoy huge support in Uganda, and across Africa and when the play makeshift videos halls in Uganda are always packed to the rafters
