An 18-year-old girl who left home after the completion of her KCSE examination found dead in Tigania, Meru County.
On December 24, 2022, Beatrice Gatwiri was reported missing after failing to get home that day. She was with her boyfriend at his house right before she disappeared.
According to a police report, She allegedly left her boyfriend's house only to be discovered, half-naked, in the Rwerea Hills on January 13.
Tigania Central Sub-county Police Commander Joel Chepkwony, says they have not yet recovered the head, adding that they have arrested the boyfriend and a man who came in contact with the body of the deceased in the forest.

The two arrested remain in law custody as they help in investigations.
Beatrice Gatwiri's death has prompted the family of the dead to demand justice from the government.
The family claims that in accordance with Ameru community traditions and customs, it is forbidden to bury a person without the head since doing so could result in a curse.
Tigania Central Sub-county Police commander Joel Chepkwony also stated that the public's reluctance to actively participate in the investigation into Beatrice's death has made it difficult for them to find the cause.
Her demise continues to be a mystery.
