Akam One clinched the win in the women category and Moischers Net A were crowned winner in the men category of the Mombasa edition of the Red Bull Half-Court Basketball Tournament that were held at Aga Khan grounds in Mombasa County.
The tournament was organized by the Kenya Basketball Federation in partnership with Red Bull Company Kenya. The tournament is making a comeback for the 4th annual edition.
The 4th edition saw teams fighting for the qualification spot to compete in the world Finals that will be held in Serbia’s capital Belgrade.
Moischers Net A stunned Storms 18-0, in the men’s semi-finals fixture to book a tie with Moischers Nets B team, which stormed A team 17-13 in the second semi-finals.
Kaya Tiwi C defeated Kaya Tiwi A 19-4 to secure a place in the finals.
In the women’s semi-final matches, Kaya Tiwi C punished Kaya Tiwi A 19-4 to book a final. Kaya Tiwi D also booked a ticket for the final by beating Akam Two 17-7. In the women’s categories Akam One will be joined by Kaya Tiwi A, Kaya Tiwi C, Kaya Tiwi D.
In the men’s category Moischers B and the Storm will join Moischers A who also have qualified for the National Finals.
The Kenya nationwide three on three basketball tournament follows the Federation International Basketball Authority(FIBA) rules where teams play for ten minutes to score a maximum of twenty-one points.
In case of a tie, the first team that scores two points wins the match. In every qualifier, the teams will play in the first round pool play where the team that accumulates the most scoring points is rewarded with a bonus point and a qualification spot in the knockout stage.
