A 61-year-old father from Igonga village in Bonchari Kisii county is being detained by police in Kisii for allegedly killing his son with a knife.
Chief of Gesonso Police Charles Machinji reported that the suspect turned himself in to authorities on Monday 9, January 2023.
The man and his 31-year-old son, allegedly got into a fight on Sunday 8, January 2023 night after they had a disagreement.
The police chief announced that the murder investigation has begun and that the suspect had surrendered himself to the authorities.
"The individual showed up at the police station this morning (Monday) at around 11 am. He claimed they argued and fought with his son." Mr. Machinji stated.
The body was taken to the mortuary at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting postmortem as police launch investigations.
South Nyanza attorneys have denounced the rise in murder cases in Kisii and Nyamira counties. They said that the Kisii High Court is now hearing 92 murder cases.
