A conversation about who is the perfect fit to beat President Ruto in the 2027 polls is already taking center stage in the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition. Former President’s Uhuru Kenyatta allies have declared who was once Prime Minister of Kenya between the years 7 April 2008 – 9 April 2013 to be the preferred candidate for the 2027 elections.

Analysts however argue that Raila Odinga has no chance against President William Ruto in 2027, believing that the 2022 race was his fifth and last stab at the presidency. Political analyst Martin Andati countered Jubilee vice chairman, David Murathe, and secretary-general, Jeremiah Kioni, who opined that Mt Kenya will eventually lead the line in Kenyans turning against President Ruto.

“For now, a lot will depend on party leader Raila Odinga, I can tell you if he decides to run again, some of us will support him, but in his own way if he decides to support another person, we will follow. He is the leader so will be looking up to him to provide the leadership and the guidance in terms of the next dispensation,” Murathe said.

Murathe went further and asserted that Raila's supporters will support any leader endorsed by the former Prime Minister.

"But if someone else will not rise, then Raila remains our candidate. Mt Kenya needs someone they can trust, and as of now, Raila is the only person they can follow, in 2027, they will have hated President Ruto more,” Murathe added.
