A KCPE candidate who qualified to join form one at one of the best schools in Kisii County may miss the chance after her single parent  abandoned her with other two siblings.

Edith Nyaboke  15 who scored 353 out of 500 marks may not proceed with her education since she cannot afford KShs 62,000 as school fees at Kereri girls' high school.

Nyaboke is now appealing for assistance from Kisii County Governor Simba Arati, Woman Representative Doris Aburi, MP Obadiah Barongo, among other leaders to realize her dreams of becoming a lawyer.

Nyaboke has narrated tribulations she and her younger siblings went through after their mother disappeared in 2012 living them at the mercy of neighbors.

The children have never known their father or grandparents leaving them with no option other than adapting survival tactics.

Alfred Akama, a human rights activist has appealed to the area administration and political leaders to intervene and help the girl pursue her education and cater for her siblings.

Akama has condemned injustice in the ongoing school bursary distribution exercise as the children who do not deserve the support are given at the expense of the bright needy ones.

Cases of students failing to join high schools due to poverty have been on the rise with many expressing lack of confidence in the 100% transition plan by the government
